North Fork Crow River Watershed Collaborative

Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan
Prioritize. Target. Measure.
The North Fork Crow River Watershed Partnership began creating a comprehensive watershed management plan (CWMP) in 2015 through the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources' One Watershed, One Plan (1W1P) program.
A CWMP brings together all the people that live, work, and visit the watershed to develop goals and actions to restore and protect the natural resources in the watershed. This CWMP provides implementation strategies that are prioritized and targeted that will result in measurable resource improvements.

A watershed is an area of land that drains all the water on the surface to a common point, like a river. The North Fork Crow River starts at Grove Lake in Pope County then travels through Stearns, Kandiyohi, Meeker, and Wright Counties until it meets up with the Mississippi River at the City of Dayton in Hennepin County. The North Fork Crow River watershed covers 949,107 acres.

For more information about the North Fork Crow River visit the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency webpage on this water resource.

As part of the plan, the watershed was divided into 7 planning regions called:
-
Lake Koronis
-
Middle Fork
-
Jewitts Creek
-
Washington Creek
-
Big Swan Lake
-
North Fork
-
Crow River
The planning regions provided a framework for the partnership to determine local priorities. Check out our webpage that explores the North Fork Crow River Watershed's local priorities.
